Cheryl Cole makes a fashion faux pas in unflattering grey tracksuit

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Is that you, Cheryl? Ms Cole made something of a fashion faux pas in a grey tracksuit as she flew back to the UK

She was obviously thinking she'd go for comfort ahead of her long-haul flight back to the UK.

But Cheryl Cole made something of a fashion faux pas in an unflattering grey tracksuit as she left the U.S. and headed back to London.

The 27-year-old singer hid her petite frame in the unattractive zip top and jogging bottoms combination.

Not a good look: Cheryl teamed the tracksuit with a pair of heeled boots

And the only hint of Cheryl's now-renowned sense of style came with the black boots she teamed the outfit with, as well as her designer white handbag.

But Cheryl seemed happy enough with her outfit, keeping her head down but managing a smile for photographers as she made her way through Los Angeles' LAX Airport.

In disguise: Cheryl tried to go incognito in a pair of huge sunglasses

And it's no wonder the singer is smiling, as she has won rave reviews already for her part on X Factor USA.

Cheryl flew out to LA the day after it was announced that she would be joining the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and LA Reid.

Can't you see anything? Cheryl, who was wearing dark sunglasses, is guided through the airport

Glamour girl: Cheryl's dressed-down look was in sharp contrast to her appearance at the X Factor USA auditions last week

And while Cheryl's involvement in the show has already been a success, she met criticism from some viewers when she sat next to Simon on the panel - the seat usually reserved for Paula Abdul.

An insider told MailOnline: 'The fans are angry because Cheryl is sitting next to simon.

'They call Paula and Simon "Saula" and think that Cheryl is splitting them up.'

Staying power! The secret to Cheryl Cole's mega bouffant

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Stylish: Cheryl Cole seen in a new advertisement for L'Oreal Elnett hairspray, sporting a series of looks

If there was any doubt as to how Cheryl Cole is managing to control her impressive mane right now, then look no further.

The 27-year-old X Factor judge is seen here in her latest L'Oreal Paris ad, promoting the brand's Elnett Hairspray, which is celebrating its 50th birthday.

The Girls Aloud singer turns up the volume, wearing her locks in a number of hair-raising styles for the campaign.

Easy style: The famous hairspray is celebrating its 50th birthday

In one frame, the brunette's hair has been fashioned in to a short, tousled bob with plenty of spring.

Then, in another pose, the singer lounges on a sofa with her locks styled into a bouffant.

Cheryl arrived for the first day of the U.S. X Factor taped auditions in Los Angeles yesterday, admitting to MailOnline that her hair looked 'crazy'.

Turning up the volume: The Girls Aloud singer and U.S. X Factor judge is currently in America filming the show

And there was no doubt that Cole had used tons of the strong hold spray to keep her barnet in check.

As the pop star stepped out of her car, the smell of lacca filled the air as she posed in front of the waiting media.

She joined fellow judges LA Reid, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell.

Slick: Seen here posing in a sequinned jacket and trousers, sat on top of a loud speaker

Cheryl exhibits three different styles for the advertisement - the 'rock it', the 'glam it' and the 'work it'.

Cole was signed as the face of L'Oreal in 2009 and fronted a couple of campaigns including one for Elvive shampoo and Glam Shine lipgloss.

Yesterday Cowell confirmed to MailOnline that Cheryl will no longer be taking part in the British X Factor.

He has also relinquished his judging duties on the UK version, but said he will still perform some role on the show.

Gary Barlow is the only confirmed judge for the British programme, with Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh still not confirmed to return.

'I've fallen in love with Cheryl Cole': Selena Gomez is X Factor judge's biggest fan

By Daily Mail Reporter

I love Cheryl Cole! Selena Gomez on stage in Dixon, California on the first night of her new tour

She's almost an unknown in the U.S., but Cheryl Cole has one unlikely fan.

Selena Gomez gave the newly announced X Factor judge's American dream a boost last night when she performed one of her songs during a gig.

The Disney starlet, who is dating Justin Bieber, declared she had fallen in love with Cole, before singing a cover version of her hit Parachute to a packed crowd of young fans.

Introducing the track, she said: 'When I was in London last year, I fell in love with a British artist. She is so cool - her name is Cheryl Cole.

'This song that I'm going to perform for you guys, you might not know, but I feel like the lyrics are very beautiful. This song is called "Parachute".'

Gomez, 18, paid tribute to Cole during her concert at Dixon County Fair in California on Saturday night.

Big fan: Selena performs Cheryl's song Parachutes

Her cover of Parachute - the British singer's third solo single - came just 24 hours after Cole was confirmed as a judge on the U.S. version of X Factor.

The Girls Aloud star, who is relatively unknown in the United States, will appear on the show alongside Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and a fourth judge who has not yet been named.

The singing contest will be presented by Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and British TV personality Steve Jones.

Inspiration: New X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has found a fan in Selena Gomez

Cole was not the only British singer Gomez honoured during her Dixon County Fair gig.

The Wizards of Waverly Place star also performed a cover of Jessie J's hit single 'Price Tag'.

Gomez wore a sparkly silver dress throughout her show, despite cool temperatures and strong winds.

'I have a sweater and a jacket but I didn't want to wear it,' she told her fans. 'I'll be cold for you guys because I want to wear this pretty thing.'

Simon Cowell on verge of luring Strictly's Alesha Dixon to replace Cheryl Cole as X Factor judge

By Daily Mail Reporter

Thrilled? Alesha Dixon is said to be excited about the prospect of joining the X Factor judging panel

Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon looks set to replace Cheryl Cole on the panel of the X Factor.

Simon Cowell is tipped to be on the verge of signing the singer to fill to the vacancy left by Cheryl who has been confirmed as a judge on the new US version of the show.

Alesha, 32, is reported to have met X Factor bosses on Wednesday after weeks of talks.

She is said to be thrilled at the prospect of joining the hit ITV show, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The move would prove quite a coup for ITV if they could lure Alesha away from the BBC dance show.

Simon is said to have been agonising over who should replace the Geordie Girls Aloud singer.

Her band mate Sarah Harding, 29, has also been in the frame along with Cheryl's long term rival Lily Allen and N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos.

Simon is said to have been deliberating over who to choose to join Take That's Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh on the judging panel.

A source told the newspaper: 'He has spent weeks handpicking the right people - he's a perfectionist who changes his mind by the hour.

'There have been heated debates and disagreements almost every day between Cowell, ITV and senior executives over who they need to sign up to give it some stardust.'

America bound: Simon Cowell has confirmed Cheryl Cole will be joining him on the judging panel of the US version of the X Factor

Simon is believed to have decided on Alesha because of her gutsy persona and experience as a solo artist and a member of girl group Mis-Teeq.

She is also close friends with Gary Barlow which Simon thinks would help with the dynamics of the panel.

Dannii Minogue is expected to return to the show which would complete the line up.

'Alesha is ecstatic. She never thought in a million years that she would be asked,' the source told the Sunday Mirror.

'But talks have been on for weeks and have been going well. She has had meeting with producers and realises it’s her dream job – an offer she can’t refuse.

'She’d be sad to turn her back on Strictly, but X Factor is in a completely different league.'

A spokesman for X Factor refused to confirm or deny the appointment and said: ‘The panel for the UK will be announced in due course.'

The BBC controversially chose Alesha to join the Strictly panel in 2009 to replace 67-year-old Arlene Phillips.

She was chosen following her success as a contestant on the show in 2007 when she won the competition with professional dancer Matthew Cutler.

It would be a blow for the corporation if she left, leaving a gap in the judging panel.

Bosses at the ITV show also need to find a replacement for Konnie Huq who presented ITV2's Xtra Factor.

The former Blue Peter presenter was reportedly axed after mixed reviews from viewers - although her management said she had other commitments which clashed with the show.

The 35-year-old made her debut helming the X Factor sister show last year, but failed to match the popularity of previous presenter Holly Willoughby.

Cheryl Cole puts on her big hair for a big new job...

By NATALIE TROMBETTA and CHRIS JOHNSON in Los Angeles

Hello America: Cheryl Cole shows off her huge bouffant, which she described as 'crazy wild hair' as she arrives for the first day of the U.S. X Factor auditions in Los Angeles today

Perhaps too many Dynasty reruns have left Cheryl Cole thinking this is how everyone wears their hair in America.

Whatever the reason her huge bouffant 'do certainly made an impact as she arrived for the first day of filming the U.S. X Factor.

But while she may have worked hard on her 'look', as an unknown in the States Cheryl is fast finding she will have to work hard to prove herself.

Legendary music producer LA Reid told MailOnline he hadn't even met Cheryl. And when asked what he thought of Simon Cowell's choice he replied: 'I don't know man. I've never listened to her music.'

Who is she again? Cheryl's fellow judge LA Reid admitted he had never heard her music

Camera ready: The American media were eager to get a glimpse of the new judge

Cheryl was the second judge to arrive, flaunting her slender figure in an eye-catching pair of purple Diane von Furstenberg trousers and an Oscar de la Renta top, teamed with a turquoise belt.

She laughingly described her over-the-top hairdo as 'crazy wild hair'.

When asked how she felt about the fact Reid had never heard of her, or her music, the 27-year-old singer wasn't annoyed.

'I quite like it, it means I feel really challenged,' she said. 'I have so much respect for LA Reid. I've always admired him, so it's great for me.

'It's one of those moments where you don't know what to say or how to feel.'

Reunited: Former American Idol judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul celebrate their new show with a kiss on the lips

Touchy feely: The duo were very affectionate while they posed for the cameras looking excited to be working together again

Cheryl, the show's British judge, arrived in Los Angeles earlier this week, ahead of the taping.

Following months of speculation, she was only recently confirmed as a judge on the new U.S. version of the hit British reality series.

But her recruitment has sparked accusations the show is too British, with some worried the American audience won't understand Cheryl's strong regional accent.

But Cheryl laughed off the criticism, saying: 'I'm hoping people are going to embrace it.

'I'm not worried (about my accent). It's going to be interesting. I hear a lot of accents here too.'

But she conceded: 'I'm sure there will be words or phases where people are like, excuse me?'

Meeting her fans: Cheryl might still be a relative unknown in the U.S., but a huge crowd cheered her as she climbed out of her limousine

Looking stylish in a red leather coast, and jeans with bright lipstick, the 27-year-old looked focussed as she arrived at the airport terminal.

Welcome to your new life Cheryl! New X Factor USA judge jets out of London

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

Alreet America! Cheryl Cole arrives at Heathrow Airport to board a flight to Los Angeles ahead of her new role on X Factor USA

Just a day after her appointment as a judge on X Factor USA was confirmed, Cheryl Cole has jetted out of London.

Accompanied by her assistants at Heathrow Airport, the singer looked like she couldn't wait to board the 11-hour flight to Los Angeles.

The 27-year-old wore yellow harem pants, towering buckled ankle boots and blue striped T-shirt. She kept her eyes under cover with a pair of aviator shades.

Following months of speculation, Cole was confirmed yesterday as a judge on the new U.S. version of the hit British show alongside Simon Cowell and Antonio 'LA' Reid.

Cole has already voiced her excitement about the new role searching for the talent America has to offer and said she is ready to battle it out against Cowell on the first series.

He added: 'She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.'
Yesterday's announcement ends months of speculation over whether Cole's Newcastle accent would prove problematic for viewers across the pond.

Fox bosses have sung the Parachute singer's praises. Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, said: 'She’s an incredibly talented artist and performer, as well as a style icon, and she has that special charisma that draws in fans around the world.

'Cheryl’s charm and chemistry with Simon have been a key part of the overwhelming success of ‘The X Factor’ in the UK, and we can’t wait to welcome her to the U.S. on our air.'

Executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz said: 'As a young artist whose talent show discovery led to almost immediate stardom, Cheryl’s career exemplifies the promise of The X Factor.

Ready for battle: Cheryl can't wait to get the first series of the American version of the X Factor show underway and is looking to beat Simon Cowell as she has in the U.K. show

'Her empathy and passion for identifying and nurturing undiscovered talent has made her a huge hit with British audiences, and I have no doubt America will fall in love with her beauty, her accent and her incredible chemistry with Simon Cowell.'

However, some people have suggested Cheryl's strong Geordie accent will cause problems with U.S. viewers.

After hearing the news today, Piers Morgan offered his help, tweeting: 'Congrats to my friend Cheryl Cole on landing US X Factor judging gig. Am available for elocution lessons whenever you like.'

Cole has proved a skilled judge, winning the UK version of the show twice, first in 2008 with Alexandra Burke and in 2009 with Joe McElderry.

While many were worried about her lack of profile in the U.S. it has also been reported that her song Parachute will be featured on the hit musical show Glee - which has covered hit songs by Rihanna, Madonna and Britney Spears.

Great chemistry: Fox bosses have praised Cheryl's talent as a judge and have said America will love the way she interacts with Simon Cowell

Singing in the rain! Thousand of X Factor hopefuls brave grim Los Angeles weather as U.S. auditions begin

By Chris Johnson

Crazy scenes: A growing crowd of 18,000 hopeful pictured in the car park of the LA Sports Arena in Los Angeles today where the first U.S. X Factor auditions got underway

X Factor U.S. officially got rolling today as thousands upon thousands of hopefuls descended on Los Angeles for the first round of auditions.

A swarming crowd of around 18,000 people are assembled in the car park at the LA Sports Arena in Downtown Los Angeles - making it the largest talent show turnout the city has seen.

Despite the rainy weather, would-be contestant camped out overnight in a bid to get a good spot before doors opened at 9am this morning.

Not deterred: Despite the rainy weather, wannabes braved the elements as they took their place in the huge queue in a bid to get an audition

A show insider told MailOnline: 'The scenes down here a crazy. There are around 18,000 people here and the numbers are growing by the second.

'There's gridlock on the freeways into the venue, it's absolute chaos.

'These auditions are going to be going on well into the night - there are a lot of people to get through.'

Dedicated: Would-be-contestants camped out over night before doors opened at 9am this morning

Front of the queue: Revellers stand behind the gated area at dusk

As it's the first round of auditions, hopefuls will perform in front of producers of the show, rather than the judges, which has still not been revealed in full.

Simon Cowell, who is heading the panel, has revealed one of the judges however - record executive and music producer Antonio 'L.A.' Reid.

He has helped launch the careers of stars including Mariah Carey, Pink, Rihanna, Kanye West and Justin Bieber.

Showing what she's got: Jordan Adelberger reveals her short red dress underneath her robe

She's got swagger: Kameron Kemp shows off her free-styling rapping abilities while another fan waves an LA Reid banner, one of the judges on the show

Today's crowd is a mixed bunch, with people ranging in age from 12 to the ripe old age of 87.

Maranda Jones, 16, from Huntington Beach, Los Angeles, plans to wow producers with a song she wrote herself.

The teen, who was joined by her father, said: 'I hope I'm good enough. I'm just so excited to be here. I know Simon wants confidence and if I give it everything I've got then I can't go wrong.

'I'm excited, not nervous,' she added confidently.

Far and wide: Antonia Duggar, left, travelled all the way from Liverpool in the UK to attend the auditions

Mixed crowd: A father and son duo arrived with a huge double bass in tow

Karen Turner, 18, from Newport Beach insisted she would not be fazed if she comes face-to-face with Cowell at a later audition.

'Simon doesn't scare me. I plan on intimidating him! That will shock him from the start!'

Paul Pointer, 54, is hoping X Factor will give him a chance to get recognition, despite his age.

He said: 'I want to thank Simon for giving people like me, my age the chance to live our dream.

'I might be older than most but I sure as hell ain't gonna let that stop me!'

Madding crowd: Teams of people arrived to the audition venue and the crowd is still growing

Across the swelling crowd, hopeful are waving banners as they excitedly wait to see if they will get the chance to audition.

One group had assembled a giant X out of fizzy drinks cans and there is also a hudge 3D stage where people can have their photographs taken.

There has been much speculation about who the other judges will be for the American version of X Factor, which kicks off in September on Fox.

Names touted have included former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and George Michael.

Wave your hands in the air: Other hopefuls seen here waving their placards

Meanwhile, Cheryl Cole, who is a judge on the British show, is still very much in the frame to join the panel.

However some Fox executives are believed to be less than keen after audience focus groups showed that she was not that popular in the States.

The winner of the show will receive a Sony Music recording contract worth $5 million - which trumps the £1m deal offered on the British show.

The judges: So far Simon Cowell and LA Reid have been confirmed as judges on the U.S. panel

It's a yes from me! 'Simon Cowell secures judging role for Cheryl Cole on X Factor U.S.A and lines Nicole Scherzinger up as host'

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

Pulling stings: Simon Cowell has persuaded TV executives to include Cheryl Cole as a judge on the U.S. version of the show

TV executives were said to have ruled her out from the line-up of the U.S. version of the X Factor over concerns regarding her strong Geordie accent and lack of profile in America.

But today today reports have emerged that Cheryl Cole WILL be taking a seat next to Simon Cowell after the music mogul is said to have convinced FOX TV bosses about the former Girls Aloud singer.

‘On the judging front things are changing almost daily but Simon has put his neck on the line to sell Cheryl to network bosses,’ a source told The Daily Mirror.

‘After being stonewalled initially Simon believes he has convinced them to sign off her deal.’

Nicole Scherzinger, who was a hot favourite for the judging role, is also tipped for a major role in the highly anticipated show – as the host.

Former Pussycat Doll Nicole was said to be lined up for a judging role on the U.K. version of the show, after impressing as a temporary judge when Cheryl was off ill with malaria last year.

New host: Nicole Scherzinger is tipped to host the American version of the show

But the Poison singer is said to be joining the Stateside version of the show after Simon, 51, negotiated a deal with her record label to allow her to appear on the show.

‘Nicole’s had screen tests and is a natural in front of the camera. Autocue does not faze her at all,’ a source told the paper.

They added: ‘As an established singer, both as a solo artist and in a group, Nicole will be great with the contestants and she knows what she is talking about.’

New recruit: Antonio 'LA' Reid, pictured here with Rihanna in 2009, is said to be joining the American X Factor panel

While nothing has been formally signed by the girls it has been confirmed that music producer Anotonia ‘L.A.’ Reid will make up part of the judging panel.

In a statement released last week Simon Cowell said that the 54-year-old was his ‘number one choice’ for the role.

The 54-year-old has had an impressive career in the music industry and has helped to launch the careers of Mariah Carey, Pink, Rihanna, Kayne West and Justin Bieber.

While Reid was confirmed as a judge, rapper Nicki Minaj was also said to be being considered for a judging role on the show.

Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul have all thought to have been considered as a judge of the U.S. version of the show.

A spokesperson for Simon Cowell was unavailable for comment this morning.
